King Lalibela is related to the history of rock-hewn churches at a place called Lalibela in Northern Ethiopia. There are eleven monolithic churches which are rock-hewn. Each church has a different architecture and name. The picture you see on the right side is top view of the famous 'Biete Giorgis' also known as Lalibela.

A town in Northern Ethiopia called Axum, houses many historical heritage. Axum stelea field, Queen Sheba's bath and King Kaleb's tomb are the main ones. Axum's stelea field has a number of stelae of different size and design. The biggest stelea 'stela1' is 33 tall, lies as it fell. The third tallest or also known as 'stela3' is 23 tall and it is in place. The stelae fild is in the picture on the right.

Emperer Fasilides (1632-1667) is known for setting up a permanent capital during his reign, unlike other kings before him. He founded Gondar, one of Ethiopia's most fascinating cities. The emperor built the first and most famous castles. The castles stand in rolling parkland, within fortified walls. The two-storied castle of Fasilides, has a rectangular corner tower, three smaller domed towers and thick walls. It is showed in the picture opposite.

Ertale volcano, where temperatures can reach up to 1,868 degrees Fahrenheit (1,020 degrees Celsius). This is a desert with some areas that are more than 116 meters (328 feet) below sea level. Erta Ale stands 613 metres tall, with a lava lake at the summit.
